$0+

SlowSampler2 is a VST3 plugin inspired by OtoMAD (音MAD) and YTPMV. It focuses on providing rich time-stretching and pitch-tuning options to transform different types of sounds into musical instruments.

SlowSampler2 is an open-source software. Source codes and developer notes are available at: https://github.com/chsh2/SlowSampler2

Features

A full demo video is available at: https://youtu.be/kiuc5jg3GvM

  • Generate 16-voice polyphony sound by sampling either an audio file or an audio track in real time
  • Multiple pitch tuning/shaping algorithms
    • Formant shifting for vocal samples
  • Various time stretching options
    • A unique mode that fits the audio to the MIDI note length
  • Modulators & vocoders by loading the second audio sample

Installation

Please download the archive from the Releases page. Decompress the .vst3 folder into the system default folder of holding VST3 plugins.

Please refer to the following page for the default VST3 location in different operation systems: https://steinbergmedia.github.io/vst3_dev_portal/pages/Technical+Documentation/Locations+Format/Plugin+Locations.html

Usage

In the plugin host software, e.g. a digital audio workstation (DAW), two VST3 plugins will be detected:

  • SlowSampler2: This is an instrument (VST3i). Please use the button in the graphic interface to load a WAV file as a sample, and then make sounds with the MIDI input.
  • SlowSampler2FX: This is an effect plugin. With the same features of the instrument mode, it also has the capacity to use an audio track (either the current track or a side chain) as the sampling source. Please note that the effect mode still requires the MIDI input to make any sound.

In addition, the plugin can be run as a PlugData patch by opening the file plugdata.pd.
